Christine Manson, Founder and CEO of Terra Water Indonesia, has been named Sustainable Woman Entrepreneur of the Year at the Punch Sustainability Awards Gala 2024. Terra Water also received a nomination for the Sustainable Business of the Year in Bali, Indonesia.
The Punch Sustainability Awards Gala 2024 was a night of celebration, innovation and impact in Bali, Indonesia. Held on December 7th at Locavore NXT in Ubud, this event celebrated the individuals and organisations leading the charge in sustainability across Bali. The Gala, hosted by the Punch Community, drew an impressive audience of sustainability advocates, entrepreneurs, and community leaders, all united by their dedication to creating a more sustainable living in Bali while preserving the island's rich cultural heritage.
Christine’s recognition comes as a testament to her relentless dedication to addressing one of Indonesia’s most pressing challenges: improving access to clean drinking water and reducing the reliance on single-use plastic bottles across Indonesia. Terra Water distributes 100% natural ceramic clay pot filters across Indonesia, providing families in need with access to the one thing everyone needs most: clean water. Using a combination of terracotta clay, activated carbon and silver nanoparticles, the filters completely purify dirty drinking water, making it 100% safe to drink.
Terra's filters also remove the need to purchase drinking water packaged in plastic bottles, which contribute significantly to the 7.8 million tonnes of plastic waste that accumulate yearly in Indonesia. With Indonesia being the 3rd largest consumer of plastic bottled water in the world, access to alternate solutions for drinking water is crucial to preserve Bali's world class beaches and landscapes. Terracotta clay pot filters do not require any power to use, so they can be used in even the most remove areas of Indonesia. Families can save valuable time for other activities instead of boiling water, and the reduction of harmful fumes from burning wood and LPG gas for boiling helps lessen carbon emissions. Our Founder and CEO's recognition as the Sustainable Woman Entrepreneur of the Year and Terra Water's nomination as the Sustainable Business of the Year is a reflection of our incredible work in addressing one of the world's most pressing challenges using innovative and eco-friendly solutions.
